Panemians Could be on Moon by 2163, DND Says.

Justice Minister and acting Science Minister Antonius Rose (Right) converses with Deputy Defence Minister, Lucius Braddock (Left).

District 15: Moon Rocks. Could you imagine that? The 2160’s are shaping up to become a eventful decade.

The Department of National Defence and Science and Technology alongside officials from the Office of the President, announced today that preparations are being made for a manned crew to possibly walk the moon, maybe even live on the moon defense officials say.

“Nothing is written in stone as of yet.” says Deputy Minister Braddock, whose portfolio is military technological affairs.

“Especially with our President and his plans to cut the Ministry indefinitely.”

Deputy Minister Braddock is right. Since Kane took office, defence budgets have been slashed and capabilities have been hindered in preference for social funding such as family planning, better educational facilities and urban expansion for the Districts. Army/Peacekeeper Generals are furious at the lack of funding, especially with raiders from the northern wilds and the barbarians from the Eastern Hemisphere to worry about.

“We’re in planning stages to decommission five northern frontier bases.” Generalissimo of the Peacekeeper Armies Benedict “Wolf”  Sheppard comments.

“When Panem gets swamped with insurrection, don’t blame me or my men.”

The Ministry of Science and Technology, a now Ministerless department, is hoping that this endeavor will save it from decommission.

“If we indeed cast our eyes to the stars, the possible outcomes would be endless.” says Minister Rose.

The estimated project, occurring sometime in 2163, is when the Hunger Games are set to be decommissioned. 2 billion sesterces have so far been paid to fund this project.

As stated above, the 2160’s, regardless of how early into the decade this event is, seems to wash over the hearts of millions of Panemians, as we gaze to the future.

A supply rocket launched from Cape Odysseus, District 4. The supplies will land on the moon, in which man-controlled drones carry out exploration projects.
